A Good Night’s Sleep

“When we shrink our whole reality down to pending projects when our life
becomes our endless to-do list, it’s difficult to put them aside each night and let
ourselves fall asleep and connect with something deeper”.

This next month, SEEDS Newcastle is unrolling several new events, programs,
and workshops for our members to try. From Living Better, a chronic disease self-management
program, to a NEW Sourdough Bread workshop (back by popular
demand!) on September 15, our team is thrilled to catalyze these new experiences
for you. Sign up now, before it’s too late!

During September, our wellness goal is to focus on rest. In our hectic, rushed
lives, it can be easy to forget the healing power that sleep possesses. As David M.
Rapoport, MD, says, “think of sleep as the tuneup you need to run smoothly.” We
invite you to join us in our team goal of 7-8 hours of shut-eye every night. No
excuses!

Workshops and programs are life-changing, to be sure. But let’s not forget to
take care of our bodies while we work to take charge of our lives. Live, rest, repeat!

LEARN:  3 TIPS TO ACHIEVE DEEP SLEEP  

• Don’t try to sleep while being hungry or stuffed. Avoid heavy or large meals within a couple of hours before bedtime. Your discomfort
will keep you up or deprive you of restorative sleep.
• Stick to a daily exercise routine. Get at least twenty minutes of vigorous exercise every day. Avoid being active too close to your
bedtime.
• Pull the plug. Lighting from personal electronics works to stimulate your brain and keeps you from “nodding off” at night. Keep your
television, tablet, computer, and smartphone out of your bedroom.
